    AAC

As an AAC specialist, I am dedicated to embracing a comprehensive and collaborative strategy that is not only effective but also enjoyable! My goal is to guarantee that EACH child I assist is provided with every chance to achieve their highest potential in functional communication. Whether you suspect that your child could benefit from visual support through a Speech Generating Device and wish to initiate an evaluation, or if your child already has a device and you seek additional guidance on optimizing its benefits, feel free to contact me for a consultation. I am excited to be a part of this journey with you!

    LATE TALKERS AND LANGUAGE DELAYS

Instead of adopting a "wait and see" attitude, I am committed to evidence-based practice by offering early intervention for children who are late talkers. Drawing on extensive experience in early intervention, I use a play therapy approach when working with young children. Collaborating closely with parents and caregivers, my aim is to optimize therapeutic outcomes. In the case of school-age children with language delays, therapy may involve interventions to address specific language deficits, such as difficulties with vocabulary, word order, grammar, or social language skills.

    SPEECH

Speech sound errors may include articulation errors, phonological errors, or childhood apraxia of speech. Each of these can cause difficulties in pronouncing sounds or words correctly and can affect communication As a speech therapist, I have the expertise to work with children to improve speech sounds through various exercises and activities. This can include practicing specific sounds, learning the correct tongue and lip movements, and engaging in fun games to make the learning process enjoyable. Stuttering, while not affecting actual sounds, is another speech difficulty that can be addressed in speech therapy.

    LITERACY

Is your child a struggling or reluctant reader or writer? Literacy skills are vital for school-age children, but these skills do not come naturally and unfortunately struggling readers and writers fall through the cracks in the classroom far too often. Therapy will be tailored to each child’s specific needs, whether it's language comprehension, sound-letter associations, or even understanding spelling rules. I provide an evidenced-based therapy approach to treat reading and writing impairments, and hopefully help your child learn to LOVE to read and write as they grow in their abilities and confidence.

    FEEDING AND SWALLOWING

Difficulty with feeding and swallowing skills can have a major impact on health, growth, family dynamics as well as speech. I have years of experience working with infants through school-age children to ensure that eating and drinking are safe, nutritious, and pleasurable experiences for the child as well as for their family. If your child has been identified as having failure to thrive, aspiration or other difficulty swallowing, or has difficulty with textures and could be described as “more than picky” they may benefit from feeding and/or swallowing therapy.

    Oral motor

When children have trouble with the muscles used for talking and eating, it can make it hard for them to eat properly and speak clearly. These issues, called oral motor difficulties, mean the muscles in their mouth and throat might not work well together. This can lead to problems like trouble pronouncing words, making speech sounds, and even difficulty chewing and swallowing food. So, it's not just about talking right—it can also affect how they eat and get the nutrition they need. Helping kids with these challenges early on through therapy and support is important for them to develop good oral motor skills.
